Privacy Policy — Daycare Simulator
Last updated: 01-07-2026
Blueline Studios (a sole proprietorship established in the Netherlands) ("we", "us", "our") makes Daycare Simulator (the "Game"). We designed the Game to collect as little personal data as possible and to rely on established platforms for the rest. This policy explains the data we handle and points to the services that handle the remainder. It is written to meet the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applies to players worldwide.
1. Who we are (Data Controller)
• Blueline Studios (eenmanszaak), owned by Lucas Martijn
• KvK number: 42127561
• Postal address:
Box D9351
Verdunplein 17
5627SZ Eindhoven
Nederland
• Privacy contact: info@bluelinestudios.eu
We have not appointed a Data Protection Officer, as we are not required to under Article 37 GDPR.
2. How your data is handled
Wherever possible, your data stays on your own device or is handled by the platform you play on, not by us:
• Playing solo. Your progress and settings are stored locally on your device. If you enable cloud saves, they are synced by your platform's cloud-save feature, not by us.
• Buying and launching the Game. This is handled by the store you bought it from (for example Steam) under that store's own privacy policy. We only receive what the store exposes to the Game, such as an account identifier and display name.
• Online co-op. Our online multiplayer is powered by Epic Online Services (EOS) from Epic Games. To connect you with other players, EOS processes an online identifier, your in-game display name, and connection data (including your IP address, used to route the connection). Epic handles this data under its own Epic Games Privacy Policy and, for data tied to your Epic account, acts as an independent data controller. We do not run our own game servers, and we do not collect this data ourselves beyond what is needed to make a session work.
• Contacting support. If you contact us, we keep your message and the contact details you provide so we can reply.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not ask you for special-category data.
3. Legal bases for processing (Article 6 GDPR)
• Running the Game and the online features you request: performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)).
• Security, anti-cheat, crash-fixing, and stability: legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)).
• Legal requests and defending legal claims: legal obligation / legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(c)/(f)).
4. Who processes your data (Recipients)
We rely on a small number of established providers rather than handling this data ourselves:
• Your store platform (e.g. Valve / Steam) purchase, sign-in, and cloud saves under the platform's privacy policy.
• Epic Games (Epic Online Services): online identity, sessions, matchmaking, and connection routing, under the Epic Games Privacy Policy.
• Other players in the same session can see your display name.
For the store and EOS layers, those companies' privacy policies govern that data, and we encourage you to read them. We may also disclose data where required by law.
5. International data transfers
Epic Online Services and other providers are based in, or transfer data to, countries outside the European Economic Area (EEA), including the United States. Where this happens, the transfer is protected by appropriate safeguards under the GDPR — the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and/or certification under the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework.
Please note that some of these countries, including the United States, may not provide a level of data protection equivalent to that of the EEA; public authorities there may be able to access personal data, and you may have limited legal remedies.
6. How long we keep data
We keep personal data only as long as needed. Session and connection data is processed transiently to run a multiplayer session and is not retained by us afterwards. Where no specific period is stated, we keep data only as long as necessary for its purpose, and longer only where required by law (e.g. tax or commercial-law retention) or to defend legal claims. Epic retains Epic account data under its own practices as an independent controller.
7. Your rights under the GDPR
If you are in the EEA, you have the right to: access your data (Art. 15); rectify inaccurate data (Art. 16); erase data (Art. 17); restrict processing (Art. 18); data portability (Art. 20); and object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21). Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time (Art. 7(3)) without affecting prior processing.
To exercise these rights, contact us at info@bluelinestudios.eu; we will respond within one month. Because much of the online-identity data is held by Epic (and your store platform) as independent controllers, you may also need to contact them directly for that data. Note: some of this data is required for online play: if you ask us, Epic, or your platform to erase or restrict the identifiers used to connect you to other players, online multiplayer may no longer work for you.
You have the right to object at any time, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to processing based on our legitimate interests (section 3). If you object, we will stop unless processing is needed for legal claims.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in the Netherlands: Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl) or with the authority in your own EEA country.
8. Children
Daycare Simulator is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. In the Netherlands the age of digital consent under the GDPR is 16; other EEA countries set it between 13 and 16. If you believe a child has provided personal data without appropriate consent, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, and we rely on the security of Epic and our platform partners for the data they handle.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy and we will post the updated version with a new "Last updated" date, and give a more prominent notice for material changes.
